This Privacy Policy explains how Moden Technologies FZE (“Mavo”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal data. It applies to our website at mavo.ae and to the Mavo AI assistant that replies to customer conversations on WhatsApp (together, the “Services”).
By using our Services or submitting your information to us, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
Who we are
Mavo is operated by Moden Technologies FZE, a company based in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy, except where we act as a processor on behalf of a business that uses Mavo (see When we act on behalf of a business).
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Waitlist and contact details. When you join our waitlist or contact us, we collect your email address and any information you choose to include in your message.
- Business information. If you sign up for or trial the Services, we may collect your name, business name, role, WhatsApp Business number and details about your products, pricing and frequently asked questions so the assistant can respond accurately.
Information processed through the WhatsApp assistant
When a business uses Mavo to handle its WhatsApp conversations, the assistant processes the messages exchanged between that business and its customers. This can include a customer’s name, WhatsApp phone number, message content and any information a customer chooses to share in the chat. We process this data on the business’s behalf and only to provide the Services — for example, to generate replies and hand a conversation to a human agent when needed.
Information we collect automatically
- Usage and device data. Like most websites and online services, our servers automatically record limited technical information such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and timestamps. This helps us keep the Services secure and reliable.
How we use information
- To operate, provide and maintain the Services.
- To manage the waitlist, respond to your enquiries and send you service-related communications.
- To generate replies, qualify enquiries and route conversations to a human when a business uses the assistant.
- To monitor, secure, troubleshoot and improve the Services.
- To comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use the content of WhatsApp conversations for advertising.
WhatsApp and Meta platforms
Mavooperates on top of the WhatsApp Business Platform provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. and its affiliates. Your use of WhatsApp is also governed by Meta's and WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policies, which are separate from this policy. We encourage you to review them to understand how Meta processes data on its platforms.
How we share information
We share personal data only as needed to run the Services and as described below:
- Service providers. We use trusted third parties to host our infrastructure, send email and provide the AI capabilities behind the assistant — for example, cloud and email providers such as Amazon Web Services, the WhatsApp Business Platform from Meta, and AI model providers. These providers process data on our instructions and under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.
- Business customers. Where we process WhatsApp conversations on behalf of a business, that business receives the relevant conversation data as the controller of it.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose data where required by law, regulation or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users, the public or Mavo.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
International data transfers
We and our service providers may process and store personal data in countries outside the United Arab Emirates, including where our cloud and AI providers operate. Where data is transferred internationally, we take steps to ensure it is protected by appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable data protection law.
Data retention
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it. Conversation data processed on behalf of a business is retained in line with that business's instructions.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, including the UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to request correction or deletion, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@moden.ae. If your data is processed by a business using Mavo, please direct your request to that business, and we will assist them as needed.
Children's privacy
The Services are intended for businesses and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
Cookies
Our website uses only the cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for it to function and remain secure. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Third-party links
Our Services may link to third-party websites or services that we do not operate. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be communicated where appropriate. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
